At this time, I would love to teach Kindergarten.  My most memorable moments were as a kindergartner.  I feel like kindergarten teachers set the bar for what children expect of school teachers. I still remember my kindergarten teacher and the song that we would sing every morning before we started class.  Singing this song made me feel safe and it transitioned me into learning without feeling nervous.   If I can make an impression on students like the one I received from my kindergarten teacher, I will feel successful.

In my classroom, I want my students to feel welcome and safe.  I want my classroom to be organized and free of clutter.  This way I can see all the students with a simple glance at all times. There will be many motivational posters displayed around the room.

When you walk into my classroom, my desk will be to the immediate right.  Behind my desk will be the students cubbies.  This will ensure that no one will be in anyone else’s things.

I will have a tree similar to this one behind my desk.  The bright colors will bring cheer to the classroom. 

Next to my desk will be where the calendar is kept for the morning discussion of the days of the week, months of the year, and weather report.

There will be four student tables that will be utilized as their desks.  Each student will have an assigned seat. Each seat will have a pocket made from a pillow case in order to keep folders or library books in them.  Each table will have one color assigned to it.  This way I can call a color table out to take turns getting drinks, bathroom breaks or any other activity related tasks.

This is similar to what I would like to see in my class.  There will be four rectangle tables.  The number of students I have will be divided equally per each table.  

Art Center

The art center will be equipped with many supplies.  Students will be able to get creative and even display their art work on the ART WALL OF FAME.  Any student can put their art work on this wall with my assistance.  The art work will stay up for one month and at the end of the month the art work will be taken down and passed out to the students. 

Science Center

The science center will allow the students to research, test, and role play as scientists.  There will be activity cards in the center that will allow the students to learn while playing.  Students will be encouraged to conduct science experiments independently and in groups. 

Circle Time

Circle time will be utilized to give direction on lessons, read alouds, and guided reading.  This will be used every day.  Studetnts will be assigned one letter a week that they will have to recognize and sit at during circle time.  This will help with students learning the alphabet as we gather for literacy activities. I will do games and songs about the alphabet which will include the alphabet rug. 

Technology Center

Having an iPad shuffle that the student can listen to books on is ideal!  What greater way is there for children to really feel connected to books. They can get comfortable on a bean bag and let the learning begin. 

The use of traditional computers is important for children to learn to use. I will have three computers in my class.  There will be a sign up sheet per each computer.  Computers will be used to test on books that have been read to them.  The students will also be able to use computers for educational games and assignments that may need the assistance of the computer.

Using multiple types of technology in the classroom is very important to me.  Children will be equipped with all tools needed in order to succeed in learning technology.  This will assist with the hands-on approach.  Visual learners will appreciate this center. 

Class Library

I will have a class library.  All book will be appropriate age level and I will read them all before putting them in the class library.  There will be many different types of books for many different interests. Children will have time each day in the class library.  I will encourage each child by reading together and answering any questions the children may have regarding books. 

Supply Center

At the supply table, the supplies that we use will also be divided into color coded tubs, baskets, and buckets. Organization is the key to a successful classroom community. Keeping students organized will lower stress levels. 

Group Activities

This will be where I hold group readings and discussions.  I want the students to be comfortable when we have these discussions.  Like the rest of my classroom, students will feel motivated and encouraged by motivation from me and colors that will reflect positive moods. 

There are so many more ideas that I have in regard to my classroom.  All of my ideas are kept in a folder so I don't leave anything out.  I am so excited to begin my career as a teacher.  Overall, I want my students to know that I respect them, the class, and myself.  My students will experience positive motivation while being in a fun and safe environment.
